Dishwasher not draining?
These are the top three reasons:
1. The air gap is blocked.
2. Clogged drain hose
3. The drain hose is kinked.
You may have a drainage problem if you ever open your dishwasher and find dirty water on the bottom rack. For information about how to care for your dishwasher, make sure to read the owner’s manual.
1. The air gap is blocked.
Solution: Dishwashers can use air gaps to stop dirty water from backing up, contaminating dishes. The appliance’s ability drain can be affected if one becomes clogged. You can check for an air gap in your dishwasher by looking at the small, silvery cylinder near your faucet. You can check if your dishwasher has an air gap by taking off the top cover and pulling up. Depending on the design of the cap, you may need to remove or loosen the tabs. Clean up any food or debris that has accumulated, and then reassemble your air gap.
2. Clogged drain hose
Solution: It is likely that the drain hose will clog under the sink. Remove the drain clamp from the sink and disconnect it from either the drain tee or air gap. Clean the drain connector and drain hose ends of any food or debris. Next, reconnect the drain connector and secure the hose clamp.
3. The drain hose is kinked.
Solution Check first to make sure the drain is connected to the hose. Kinks can occur here if the hose’s weight is too heavy. There are also kinks where the hose connects to the drain through the cabinet under the sink. To ensure that the drain hose is not bent in any way, inspect these areas. Test the dishwasher drain operation by removing any kinks.
